Hummer HX concept
General Motors has elicited the help of three CCS graduates to create a new Hummer concept set to be unveiled at the NAIAS in January. The concept is a progressive step for the General Motors brand, which has been downsizing the chunky vehicles ever since it purchased the brand from AM General.
David Rojas, Min Young Kang, and Robert Jablonski were charged with creating the concept having just graduated from Detroit's CCS. After three months of sketching and sculpting theme
work, each designer had the opportunity to present scale clay models to Bob Lutz and Ed Welburn, who chose which design would ultimately become the HX concept.
"Hummer appeals to young people globally and served as a perfect first assignment for our newest talent," said Ed Welburn, Vice President of Global Design and Product Planning.
In its final concept form, the HX features an open-air driving experience via a pair of removable roof panels above the driver and front passenger and a modular, removable rear roof assembly enabling a quick conversion. It also features a slant back assembly with removable doors and fender flares.
