Hyundai HCD-10 Hellion

With a growing number of auto manufacturers re-entering the once neglected entry level segment with crossover vehicles, Hyundai - until recently the market leader in this segment - has released its tenth concept car, this time a compact crossover from the Los Angeles design studio, the HCD-10 Hellion.

Named after a comic character, Hellion targets young drivers enjoying the fun and the outdoors on the weekend. Aggressive in its pursuit to reach out younger motorists in the US, Hyundai is continuing its development of wild and fun concept vehicles to win back the market share which it has been losing to the likes of Honda Civic and the Scion portfolio.

Inspired by hardshell backpacks, the overall vehicle displays only minimal panels outside, and with exaggerated front and rear bumper further protected by the black two-tone, Hellion displays a very sturdy and protective aesthetic. Like the exterior, the interior styling is also very well executed, highlighted by an exoskeletal frame, and a large central display screen.
