Interlagos prototype

The new Interlagos, created by designers João Paulo Cunha Melo and Felipe Guimarães Coelho, is based on the Renault Alpine 108, a car which inspired the 1956 Willys Interlagos produced in Brazil.

By employing modern design resources and lightweight technologies, the designers have preserved the proportions and basic forms of the original model. Measuring 3868mm long, 1782mm wide and standing 1153mm tall, the Interlagos has a wheelbase of 2430mm and short 65mm (front) and 67mm (rear) overhangs. It weighs 1000kg.

Taking a cue from the original Renault Alpine, the new car will be built using Renault components and mechanicals produced entirely in Brazil, enabling the Interlagos to be at built and sold at low cost. With a transversal 142hp 2-liter four-cylinder engine and six-speed transmission mounted transversely between the axles, the famous Renault Alpine 'sportive spirit' is claimed to have been retained.

The Brazilian designers are currently seeking investors.
