This is the first picture of the new Mazda2 set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The picture shows a dramatically different car to the one it replaces, with more fluidity than its boxy forebear. Where the outgoing model was almost micro-MPV-like in its package, the new Mazda2 is closer to a shrunken C-segment car instead, and shares themes such as the front fender treatment with the Sassou concept shown in Frankfurt two years ago.

In 2002 Mazda introduced the world to 'zoom-zoom' with the Mazda6; five years later the Mazda2 takes the philosophy into a second generation. Further details will be announced at the show.
