When the outgoing CL-Class was unveiled, it marked a clean departure from the static form of its predecessor. The new CL continues this dynamic direction, marrying a familiar silhouette with more muscular surfaces and an extended cabin. At the front, the twin headlamps have converged while the rear clusters graphically repeat the distinctive C-pillars, retaining the downward taper from the last model. Inside, the interior is architecturally similar to the S-Class, on which the CL is based, although additional trim tightens the connection between IP and centre console. Two models will be available at first, the CL500 and the CL600, the V8 of the former producing almost as much power (388PS) as the V12 that the outgoing CL had when launched, while the new range-topper now makes do with 517PS.
