Mindset 'Commuter'
Six months after Murat Günak was appointed CEO of Mindset AG - a company set up by investment holding Spirt Avert AG to develop, produce and distribute an alternative automobile concept - comes a new car Günak calls the 'Commuter', named after luxury speed boats developed for mobility-conscious New Yorkers in the 1920s.
The new 2+2 coupé, which measures 4200mm long and has a wheelbase of 2760mm, has "been optimally adjusted
to the conditions of daily traffic today and in the future", according to Günak. Lightweight construction, the primary development goal for the new car, is enabled by composite body materials built atop an aluminum spaceframe. It weighs in at a scant 800kg. Inside, a bench seat for driver and front passenger defines an interior profile that is continued through a customizable rear compartment.
The Mindset is powered by a plug-in hybrid engine sourcing power from a lithium-ion battery which can also be recharged through solar cells embedded in the transparent skin. Two modes of driving will be available: 'electro mode', which is good for a claimed 62-mile cruising range, and a 'hybrid mode', which employs an optional compact combustion engine to extend the range to over 500 miles.
