Morgan unleashes ‘family friendly’ coupe
IT’S the Morgan for the family man – and the star of the show at Pebble Beach. The four-seater Eva GT debuted at last weekend’s Concours d’Elegance in California, and is aimed at ‘young families’.
The production-ready model features a bonded aluminium chassis from the SuperSports and ‘superformed’ aluminium panels to create the most modern-looking Morgan for years.
Superforming allows the company to sculpt its models into aerodynamic shapes, while giving enough precision to keep panel gaps tight.

Morgan has put a lot of emphasis on efficiency, starting with the aerodynamics. Hidden wipers and flush door handles smooth airflow, while the car’s aluminium construction keeps weight
down to only 1,250kg.
down to only 1,250kg.
Power comes from a BMW-sourced 3.0-litre straight-six engine. This produces 306bhp, and propels the newcomer from 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds, on the way to a 170mph top speed.
Impressively, it also returns 40mpg fuel economy and puts out 200g/km of CO2. Buyers will be offered a choice of six-speed automatic and manual gearboxes, while electronic dampers enable the driver to tune the ride and handling for comfort or fun.
Potential buyers were asked for a £5,000 deposit at the Pebble Beach event, but other interested parties will have to act fast – because Morgan will make only 100 models. Production of the 2+2 will start in 2012 at the factory in Malvern, Worcestershire.
