EDAG LUV concept
German design and engineering company EDAG have shown a number of concepts over the last few years at the Frankfurt and Geneva shows. Their latest study, the LU
V concept vehicle will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show in early March. Conceived as a niche vehicle, the LUV presents a maritime theme from its bow to its stern, with oiled teak on the hood and floor areas giving a nautical flair. Based on a high-end
SUV, the LUV has an overall length of 5.7 metres, is over 2 metres wide and 1.8 metres high. Behind the two rows of seats with space for five passengers, there is a teak-covered loading platform. In keeping with the maritime look of the concept car, it has the distinct air of a quarter deck.
'LUV' derives from a German nautical term and also refers to a new vehicle segment, the Luxury Utility Vehicle. The harmonious lines of the body's design enable the loading platform and passenger cell to be joined together elegantly in a way that reduces the utility vehicle character.
