Mercedes-Benz has announced the new C-Class, replacing a model series of which more than 1.4 million units have been sold since 2000.

The new C-Class features more defined surfaces, with a broad bodyside shoulder and compact rear-end giving a more sporting feel. Angular front lamps replace the double-ellipse theme, extending up into the wrap-over hood.The radiator grille on the AvantGarde model is differentiated strongly from the lower trim levels by a large, centrally positioned Mercedes star, typically a feature of Mercedes sports models.

The interior features a new control and display concept adopted from the luxury-class Mercedes models. Depending on the line, the interior trim is of aluminium or exotic wood, or has a high-quality piano lacquer look.

With a length of 4581 millimetres, the new C-Class is 55 millimetres longer than its predecessor. The body width has increased by 42 mm to 1770 millimetres, and the wheelbase by 45 mm to 2760 millimetres.
