FAW B-131 concept

First Automobile Works of China, also known as FAW, have released concept car sketches for a forthcoming concept set to be unveiled at Auto China 2008 in Beijing. Regardless of the size and segment, four-door sedans are traditionally one of China's best sellers, and FAW is looking to solidify its presence in the segment with this concept.

Simply dubbed B-131, the concept has raised some interest and wild speculations ranging from production possibilities to the size of the vehicle. These sketches show a dominating face with massive grille defining the vehicle's character, supported by the headlamp graphics starting from the front and bleeding well over to almost on top of the distinctive front wheelarches. And with excellent body to DLO proportions, great stance and simple, yet well-defined body side character, its release will definitely elicit some strong domestic interest.

FAW Hongqi Benteng

First Automobile Works (FAW) has unveiled their new Hongqi Benteng at the Hangzhou Motor Show near Shanghai, China. The Benteng is first of a new generation of Hongqi models, and is based on the Mazda 6, as a result of their partnership with the Japanese brand.

Like the 6, the Benteng is a four-door sedan, masculine styling eschewing the more fluid look of the Mazda, while a large grille and sheer surfaces emphasises its solidity. Inside, the IP is also more conservative in using beige upholstery cropped with black, offset by a wood trim. The Benteng is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 163PS, and will be priced from US $25,000 when it goes on sale in August.
