Acura MDX

The second generation Acura MDX has been announced. While the former version of the luxury SUV had unconventional proportions, partly due to the transverse engine architecture it shares with the Honda Pilot and Ridgeline pickup, the new MDX is less challenging. Combining luxury appointments, a flexible and spacious interior, and off-road capabilities, this more consensual looking MDX crossover SUV lands in what is rapidly becoming an overcrowded market segment.

The angular headlights and pentagonal grille are now well established characteristics of the Acura brand identity. A new element here is the embossed shield that partly covers the grille opening, above and below the logo. The interior makes you forget this is a utility vehicle. It has the look and feel of a typical luxury sedan except that it has enough leather clad seats to seat seven passengers. The windshield and rear wraparound glass use deep compound curved acoustic glass. Being allegedly a 'Driver's SUV' the MDX is propelled by a 300hp petrol V6 engine.
