Volvo XC60
Volvo has just released official photographs of its new XC60 ‘sporty crossover' the firm is set to reveal at the forthcoming Geneva Auto Show. The production car is closely based on the XC60 concept unveiled at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, but the design has been sadly diluted in its transformation.
Blending two car typologies - that of a conventional wagon with the attributes of an off-roading SUV - the XC60 follows on from other XC models, with an athletic body, high ground clearance and large wheels. "This car is charged with more emotive form and more energy than any other Volvo," says Steve Mattin, Volvo Cars Design Director.
Inside, the production model isn't nearly as innovative as its concept precursor, having done away with the white iPod center console streaming off the IP and replacing it with a more staid and ‘traditional' IP design, complete with wood grain for the centre console. Sales of the new car will start in Europe during the second half of 2
008.
