Nissan unleashes upgraded GT-R
Godzilla just got that bit fiercer! Nissan’s flagship performance car has received a host of tweaks to keep it ahead of the game. Under the bonnet, the 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 has been uprated from 478bhp to 523bhp while torque climbs from 587Nm to 612Nm.
Despite the boost in power, Nissan’s engineers have managed to clean up the engine’s act too, with fuel consumption improving from 22.8mpg to 23.5mpg, while carbon dioxide emissions fall from 295g/km to 279g/km. Full performance figures have yet to be confirmed.
Changes to the body include tweaks to the bumpers, which increase downforce by 10 per cent but reduce drag from 0.27 to 0.26Cd, and daytime running lights. There’s a change in tyre compound and new lightweight alloys, and the suspension and brakes have been tweaked for even better performance.
On the inside, Nissan will offer just one UK trim level, but buyers will get the choice of six paint finishes, including the new Daytona Blue pictured here, and Recaro or standard leather seats.
The current GT-R starts at £59,945, but the new car receives a hefty price hike to £69,950, including the new 20 per cent VAT rate from next year. The newcomer will debut at the LA Motor Show next month, and is available to order now.
